Exclude Databases from the COMPACT Task

It generally makes sense to have the databases on a Domino server compacted on a regular basis. For very large databases this process takes a really long time – even when optimized parameters are chosen for the COMPACT task.

Can specific databases be excluded from the COMPACT task?

Yes, this is possible as of version 8.5.1. In the NOTES.INI file of the Domino server, use the entry

COMPACT_FILTER=Database1.nsf; Database2.nsf; Database3.nsf; etc.

(in addition to the semicolon, the comma is also allowed as a separator between the database names)

Unfortunately, according to my tests, the parameter does NOT work with file system folders. That would have been nice…
