Description
In the classic Notes workspace, the client shows every database as an icon. If the same database exists in several replicas (e.g. locally and on a server), the workspace can show the icons either individually or stacked.
StackedIcons=1 turns stacking on – this keeps the workspace tidier and automatically picks the “best” replica (online / offline). The setting can also be maintained via the Notes Client Preferences (“File → Preferences → Workspace”) – the GUI is the recommended place to manage it.Example configuration
StackedIcons=1
Notes & pitfalls
- Pure client setting – not centrally distributed via policy, except through Desktop / Setup policy.
- Takes effect after a workspace refresh or a Notes restart.
- Applies only to the classic Notes workspace, not to HCL Nomad.
- For training, it can make sense to disable it (
0) to visualize the replication concept.
