Description
The
Location entry points to the Location document in the personal address book (names.nsf) that is currently active. From it, Notes reads the mail mode (online vs. local replica), replicator settings, active ports, proxy configuration, and the assigned mail and directory server.The value is updated automatically as soon as the user switches the location via the status bar menu; manual changes are usually not necessary.
Example configuration
Location=Online,8AB12C7E94F31D5BC1258A2B003F4A6E
Notes & pitfalls
- Purely a client setting – has no effect on a Domino server.
- The value consists of display name + comma + UNID; editing it manually often breaks the reference.
- With a "broken" Location, Notes starts without a mail profile; repair by selecting a different Location or creating a new one.
- In roaming / Citrix environments, the entry can differ per session – keep an eye on roaming user profiles.
- Indirectly controls which
KeyFilename/MailFile/MailServervalues actually take effect.
