HCL Notes/Domino 14.5.1 is Here – All New Features at a Glance

HCL Notes/Domino 14.5.1 – also known as HCL Notes/Domino 2026 – has been officially available since March 19, 2026 and is ready for download on the My HCLSoftware Portal. This version supersedes the previous 14.5 code stream and brings numerous improvements for the Notes Client, the Domino Server, and developers.

What's New?

Version 14.5.1 is not an ordinary Fix Pack, but a full-fledged major release that takes over the development of the 14.5 code stream. HCL published two Early Access Drops in advance and incorporated extensive community feedback.

New Features in the HCL Notes Client

Installation	Completely redesigned Windows installer – modules are placed directly in the file system, similar to the fast Mac installation process. Installation possible in approx. 38 seconds.
Font	New default font Inter for a modern, clean appearance.
OIDC Authentication	Support for the OIDC protocol for user login – modern, token-based authentication.
UI Framework	Refined tab colors, docked Open menu, improved focus colors in the navigator, redesigned action bar colors.
Properties Panel	Modern interface in the side shelf with round-trip editing, optionally openable as a separate window.
Forms	Visually redesigned forms for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Notebooks and Tasks.
Dialog Boxes	Updated: Quick Find, Create/Move Folder, Login, Add Calendar, Sametime, Alarms, Replication Schedule.
Controls	Updated radio buttons, checkboxes, timezone controls, date pickers, list fields, picker fields, and tabbed tables.
Templates	New look & feel for: Notes Log, Directory, Directory Catalog, Widget Catalog, Monitoring Configuration, Subscriptions, IdP Catalog, Cluster Analysis, and more.
Calendar	Color-coded labels and icons for different calendar types, redesigned action bar color scheme.
Workspace	New unified icons, improved interface layout, option to enlarge workspace icons.
Sametime Web Chat	Integrated modern web chat with read receipts, chat reactions and message search. Requires Sametime Server 12.0.4.

New Features in the HCL Domino Server

General Updates	Component upgrades and general improvements to the server platform.
Configuration	New features and improvements in user and server configuration.
Domino IQ (AI)	Extended with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) – AI-powered queries across existing Domino application data, without transmitting data to third parties or the cloud. Domino security including reader name fields is preserved.
Security / OpenSSL	Update to OpenSSL 3.5.4 (LTS) – first support for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC): ML-DSA, ML-KEM, SHAKE-128, SHAKE-256. TLS 1.3 is supported via libcurl/HttpGetRequest.
OIDC Provider	Domino can act as an OIDC Provider – new LotusScript and Java methods for acquiring access tokens.
Administration	New features and improvements for server administration, including extended CertMgr functions.
XPages	The XPages file upload UI now supports multiple file selections by default.
ClamAV Integration	ClamAV virus scanner is now available as an integrated component in the Domino container image.
AutoUpdate	Further development of the AutoUpdate and AutoInstall functionality introduced in 14.5 for seamless server updates.

LotusScript: New Copy method for JSONArray, JSONObject, and JSONElement

OIDC Integration: New NotesSession method (LotusScript) and Session method (Java) for acquiring access tokens via the Domino OIDC Provider
