For over a year, developers have been utilizing the XPages Extension Library (ExtLib) from OpenNTF.org to build rich web applications on IBM Lotus Notes and Domino and IBM XWork Server. While this gave developers a vast set of capabilities to build applications, many have requested they become a supported feature set of the product. The new server is part of the IBM Lotus Domino 8.5.3 family, but with a completely different licensing approach, different branding, and different packaging (installer). "The IBM Certification Program for Lotus Software is working on the restructuring of the Lotus Notes Domino 8.5 Certification paths for both Application Developers and System Administrators. After receiving feedback from the certified community, examining the requirements of both job roles and taking into account the monetary cost of taking three exams, the decision was made to reduce the number of core tests from three to two.
Material will not be removed from the tests, rather it will be divided between two exams instead of three. Given the amount of work this entails, the program will not be altering the certification paths for Lotus Notes Domino 8."

Zum 30. April 2011 endet der Support für IBM Lotus Notes/Domino 7.0.x und für IBM Lotus Enterprise Integrator 7.0.x (LEI).
Wer noch nicht hat, sollte so langsam über ein Update auf die aktuelle Version 8.5.x nachdenken...

Mit Wirkung zum 22. März 2011 wurden folgende Beschränkungen für Domino Express aufgehoben:
Verbleibende Einschränkung für Domino Express:
Somit sind jetzt, neben dem bereits verfügbaren Clustering, weitere wichtige Funktionen in Domino Express verfügbar. Die Domino Express Lizenzbedingungen werden mit der Version 8.5.3 angepasst.
Mit Wirkung zum 22. März 2011 wurden folgende Beschränkungen für Domino Express aufgehoben:
- Erweiterte Zugriffssteuerungslisten
- Gestaffelte Verzeichnisse
- Verzeichniskataloge
- Verzeichnisverwaltung
- Zentrales Verzeichnis (Namens- und Adressbuch ohne Benutzer)

- Updated version (V2.1) of the "Out Of Office Diagnostic Tool"
- Tool to present a selectable list of profile documents for removal from a database
- Prohibit Design Element Diagnostic Tool which presents design elements that have the prohibit flag enabled with the option to remove the flag
- Create a LotusScript copy of a database primarily to be used for database corruption
- Rebuild a mail database Inbox due to corruption or accidental removal of the documents from the folder
- Given a list of mail databases this will edit the ACL entry for the mail file owner to editor, designer, or manager
- If you suspect that you have duplicate templates on a server this will present you with a comprehensive list of duplicates
- Given a list of databases this tool will enable or disable all background agents in a database by editing the database property "Disable background agents for this database"
- Given a server name in your organization this tool will gather your specified mail database attributes and create a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file to be opened as a spreadsheet

IBM stellt die Lotus product wikis nun auch für den Zugriff über Mobile Devices zur Verfügung. Lotus Mobile Wikis befinden sich momentan noch im Beta-Status, funktionieren aber schon prima.
Auf dem iPhone sieht das so aus:

IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5.1 now includes many new features and enhancements.
The first major change expands on options for building or expanding on Domino applications. Domino Designer will now be freely accessible in IBM developerWorks® for no charge. This expansion in access brings Domino's RAD tool to a broader community of developers aimed at increasing the solutions that are available for the Domino platform.
The second major change for this release is a repackaging of Domino client solutions in order to simplify the purchasing options to better align with how people work vs. what they need to complete their work. The Domino client options are delivered as a client access license (CAL), where access to the Domino platform is put into two categories: Enterprise CAL and Messaging CAL.
The third major change for this release includes a vast array of features for accessing data across the form factors (desktop, mobile and Web). This release includes many features and enhancements that improve the usability of the solutions for both the end user (Lotus Notes, Lotus iNotes, and Lotus Notes Traveler) and developers (Domino Designer).

This CAL also includes entitlement to IBM Lotus Quickr Entry, IBM Lotus Sametime Entry, IBM Lotus Symphony and IBM Lotus Mobile Connect clients (where an additional server purchase is required to deploy a VPN solution that supports all access points via either client-less or client-based VPN connections).
- The Messaging CAL is a limited use option that also provides access for the clients Lotus Notes, Lotus iNotes, and Lotus Notes Traveler, but limits the access to messaging, calendar and scheduling, personal information management (local address book and personal journal), blogging, discussion databases and reference databases. This CAL also includes entitlements to Lotus Quickr Entry, Lotus Sametime Entry, and Lotus Symphony.
The third major change for this release includes a vast array of features for accessing data across the form factors (desktop, mobile and Web). This release includes many features and enhancements that improve the usability of the solutions for both the end user (Lotus Notes, Lotus iNotes, and Lotus Notes Traveler) and developers (Domino Designer).
